The best twist there is to fried chicken. As always, fried chicken in the south is a must. But pickle fried chicken with fried pickles? YES. This pickles and ranch seasoning marinade creates the best-tasting chicken I’ve had.

This pickle fried chicken recipe is what southern dreams are made of. Throw in a homemade ranch and honey mustard recipe, and you’re good to GO. What’s nice, is it doesn’t take long at all to cook.
Ingredients needed to make this recipe:
- chicken (I used actual chicken tender loins, but I also like to just cut up breasts in thin strips, they cook faster.)
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 tbsp garlic salt
- 2 tsp of pepper
- 1 tbsp Slap Ya Mama seasoning (or any cajun seasoning)
- 4 eggs
- 2 tbsp of ranch seasoning
- 1 can of pickles and pickle juice
How to make pickle fried chicken:
Start with marinating your chicken. To do this, I put the chicken strips in a gallon freezer bag covered with pickle juice, pickles, and the ranch seasoning. Literally, I just dumped a whole can of pickle chips and pickle juice over chicken in a freezer bag with ranch seasoning. I let this marinate all day, preferably overnight. I listed measurements, but you cannot go wrong with these seasonings. Just dump and go.
To start cooking, prepare two bowls. One with your eggs mixed thoroughly, the other with your seasoned flour mixture. To help with easy cleanup, layer your egg bowl with plastic saran wrap!

Heat pan over medium heat with about a centimeter of oil. I use Canola and a mixture of bacon grease.
Start flouring chicken strips by dipping strips in egg mixture, then the flour mixture, egg mixture again, and then flour mixture again, and then into the oil to fry.

I fry each side (depending on the thickness of the chicken) for about 1 and 1/2 minutes on each side, or until it has a golden crust on each side.
To make the fried pickles, simply take pickles out of marinade, toss in flour mixture and fry quickly in oil!
