Before I had kids, my career was in digital marketing. I worked for an amazing local start-up company out of Little Rock, Arkansas that was known for their different way of marketing for companies. We did websites, social media, search engine marketing, we did it all. We were seriously GOOD at our jobs. I absolutely loved it! I didn’t have set hours, but I was responsible for sales (bringing on new businesses for us to do marketing for) and for social media content creation through photos and video creation for multiple clients. The power of social media absolutely fascinated me.
Yes, things were always changing, but that was the challenge. Figuring out what worked. Having a creative outlet through video editing was an absolute bonus. I would go out to my client’s physical locations each month and take specific original content of the actual people who worked there. We would showcase the process of what they did as a company; behind the scenes, and most importantly, the actual individual characters who worked there and their personalities.
This kind of content on their business social media pages absolutely worked to grow their business because people who were already their clients would engage with the content, which made THEIR friends see it, and start to trust that company before even needing or using them. To me, it was truly the best job in the world.
Then, I had my first baby, Julia.
I went back to work 7 weeks after I had Julia. I was still breastfeeding so pumping while driving, the whole shabam. It was truly miserable. Between sales meetings, clients video shoots, I became completely burned out. Even though I LOVED my job, I felt like I was losing the few marbles I had left. Every day I wanted to be with Julia. SO, after much consideration, I decided to resign.
It was truly the single hardest yet best decision I ever made. Going from two incomes to one is not an easy thing to do. Especially when I love Amazon as much as I do. But not long after, I began thriving as a SAHM. I poured my heart into making our house a home, cooking more (which I LOVED to do), and then decided to start this blog (2019). Since then, I have documented parts of our lives. Mostly via Instagram stories, but now, here. You guys have been the sweetest tribe following along.
